Novatek ships first LNG to Japan via Northern Sea Route
MOSCOW, Jul 24 (PRIME) -- Russian independent gas producer Novatek has shipped the first batch of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Yamal LNG project to Japan via the eastern route of the Northern Sea Route, the company said in a statement on Friday.
The LNG cargo was delivered by the Vladimir Rusanov LNG tanker under a spot contract and unloaded at the Ohgishima LNG Terminal in Japan in accordance with the contract’s delivery schedule.
“We focus a significant amount of attention to develop and enhance the logistical scheme for our LNG projects. The future launch of a transshipment terminal in Kamchatka will significantly expand our opportunities for competitive deliveries of LNG to the entire Asia-Pacific region,” First Deputy CEO Lev Feodosyev was quoted as saying.
